Sports Accreditation - Advanced Orthotics

This is a requirement for those wishing to become Sports Accredited.  

 

This one day workshop will focus on the development of orthotic prescription protocol - inlcuding requirements under the ACC orthotic contract.  

 

It will feature advanced theories and techniques that will assist podiatrists to work at the top of their scope. Our aim is to present knowledge and develop an understanding of innovations and best practice.

 

We are providing training on more practical aspects of orthotic therapy. In this program, we will be drawing on the expertise of our own members and members of their multidisciplinary teams.

 

This module will focus on orthotics, appliances, aids and braces used in podiatry practice.

 

Programme will include: 

  • Obtaining a comprehensive patient history
  • Specific sport and potential for mechanisms of injury
  • Structured, reproducible record of the patient’s history
  • Effectively diagnose the patient’s condition
  • Clinical rationale by selecting, analysing and interpreting relevant information
  • Create a management plan based on clinical diagnosis
  • Management relevant to the podiatric practice
  • Know appropriate funding pathways for the athlete
  • Advanced understanding of orthotics, appliances, aids and braces in a therapeutic setting
  • Advanced understanding of orthotics, appliances, aids and braces in a therapeutic setting
  • Advanced understanding of orthotics, appliances, aids and braces in a therapeutic setting
  • Know appropriate funding pathways for the athlete
  • Claims management processes
