Professional Standards Committee

The Professional Standards Committee has been set up under the provisions of Clause 32.3 of the Podiatry New Zealand rules. It has the following functions.


  1. To monitor continuing professional development courses offered in New Zealand to ensure the high standard of continuing education is achieved
  2. To advise on appropriate external courses
  3. Identify gaps and source or develop appropriate training to meet needs
  4. To assess/approve applications to provide or attend CPD activities.
  5. To monitor the standard of CDs for the lending library.
  6. To commission and develop CDs for the lending library.
  7. To encourage podiatrists to write CDs for the library.
  8. To appoint people to mark task sheets or formal assessment papers.
  9. To allocate verifiable hours for CPD activities.
  10. To seek expert advice when necessary.


The Committee currently has two members: Nick Haley and Caron Orelowitz.
